This site is paid for by its publisher and currently makes no money. We are telling you that because "how does a free advice site pay for itself" is a reasonable question and the usual answer in this corner of the internet is "by selling your details", which is not our answer.
If that changes
It is possible that in future this site carries advertising, or is produced in partnership with a law firm, or is funded in some other way. If any of that happens, three things will follow:
- This page will say exactly what the arrangement is, before you read any guidance.
- Any page where the funder has an interest in the advice will carry a visible disclosure at the top, not in the footer.
- The guidance will still put the free routes first, because for most damp and mould problems they are genuinely the right first step.
What we will not do
We will not add an enquiry form that collects your details to pass to a solicitor or a claims company. Housing disrepair is a regulated claims sector in the UK, and identifying potential claimants or referring their details is a regulated activity requiring Financial Conduct Authority authorisation. We are not authorised and we are not going to do it under another name.
